Miners want to lengthen hunt for minerals to seabed

The Northern Territory Govt claims it is investigating exploration and mining proposals for the seabed off the north coast. Applications to explore for minerals off the Territory coastline have spiked in the final 12 months.
Some of the apps are to investigate for manganese along the Arnhem Land coast and in the Toronto Maple Leafs Jerseys Gulf of Carpentaria.
One organization, Northern Manganese, has been given federal govt approval to perform acoustic surveys near Groote Eylandt, about 600 kilometres east of Darwin.
It also needs approval from standard proprietors and the Territory government to go forward.
The Territory authorities has formerly indicated　it could approve exploration but Assets Minister Kon Vatskalis claims it is now investigating possible impacts on the atmosphere of undersea exploration and mining.
Until I am completely happy that it is not really going to have an adverse affect on the atmosphere, I am not going to approve it,　 he stated.
There are a good deal of application for undersea exploration and mining in the Northern Territory.
